Your Union has had a meeting with the company and several of the outstanding grievances have been cleared out. In particular, your Union has settled the outstanding grievance for one of our brothers and this meeting has or at least should have cleared up the way for your union and the company to start your negotiations for your new collective agreement.

Items to be discussed include Union dues (if they have changed and how), Events coming up with the Union. (Christmas party, etc.), What’s new at Mansour Mining, as well as an Open forum for concerns and questions of the members.

If you haven't been following your union on the live web-cast that was happening over the weekend, we are now part of a greater and bigger union. The delegates voted 96% in favour of our new name which is now Unifor. Our union membership is now 300,000+ members strong – Canada wide. We are now the largest union in Canada.

There are several grievances in the system right now. The newest ones are for a member being suspended for insubordination towards a lead-hand. It is unfortunate that I cannot get into this in more detail or as much as I would like too, but I'm sure you all pretty much know what it is all about.

There have been a few unfortunate events that has happened recently. Two of our brothers at Mansour have been terminated. The union is working hard on trying to help these individuals.
|2011 Negotiations for Mansour Mining Supply
Recent talks between the Sudbury Mine Mill and Smelter Workers Union Local 598/CAW and Mansour Mining have resulted in a tentative collective agreement, which the bargaining committee is recommending acceptance.
