Press Release - First Nickel Contract Ratified
A ratification meeting was held July 29, 2010 and the employees, who have been off work since October 2008 when the mine closed, voted in favor of the new collective agreement by 96%.

After three days of continuous bargaining, a new tentative agreement was reached on Friday, July 23rd, 2010.

Out of Date Phone Numbers - April 29th, 2010
Last week when calling some of the employees, the Company and Union had a problem with some of the phone numbers as they were out of date.
Update for Negotiations - April 19th, 2010
We had a successful week of bargaining with the Company this past week. There is much more to be done yet but there is some good news.

Last week the company asked to resume negotiations. The tentative dates that we have so far are all in April.
Bargaining Update - Jan 8th, 2009
The negotiating team met with the Company again on the 6th of January. The Company would not move on any of the concessions they were asking for in the contract language so the negotiations are on hold until they get closer to finding some funding to reopen the mine back up.

I had wanted to send out a note to inform you that the Company had taken Union Dues one time too many off our last pay check and to inform all of the upcoming election and what work-related news I had to date. This letter unfortunately did not get out with the checks that were sent.

I’m sending out this note first to inform you that the Company had taken off Union Dues one time too many off our last pay check. While I was checking to make sure that FNI had remitted all the money that was owed to the Union I noticed this and it took awhile to sort it out and get you a check for what was owing to you.
