MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRESIDENT
On
behalf of all the members from Mine Mill 598/CAW I want to
thank you for your support and welcome all of you. Mine Mill 598/CAW represents workers at Falconbridge, Mansour
Mining, Iris Addiction Recovery for Women (formerly known
as Northern Regional Recovery Continuum.), Midas Muffler,
Finlandia Nursing Home, Finlandia Care Services,
University of Sudbury, St. Joseph’s Long Term Care
Facility and now the Elizabeth Center Long Term Care
Facility.
The
Labour Relations Board held a certification vote at your
workplace on Wednesday October 12th, 2005 and
seventy-one percent of the workers who exercised their
right to vote, chose Mine Mill 598/CAW.
Once
the certificate from the Labour Board has been received,
elections for the workplace representatives such as
bargaining committee will begin.
Survey sheets will be given to the membership and
we will begin to achieve a fair and equitable collective
agreement through the bargaining process.
You
will find information about our Local and our bi-laws on

(click on the CAW logo on the sidebar), and you will be
able to access information about other locals from the
East to West in our country.
We
have monthly membership meetings scheduled.
They take place on the second Wednesday of every
month and are held at our offices at 19 Regent Street
South at 7:30 p.m. Our
next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday November 9th
at 7:30 p.m.
Again,
the thousands of members of Mine Mill 598/CAW situated
right here in Sudbury welcome you as part of our union. I
look forward to working with all of you and am very
confident that at the end of the day, this is one decision
that you will not regret.
