A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRESIDENT

On behalf of all the members from Mine Mill 598/CAW I want to thank you for your support and welcome all of you.  Mine Mill 598/CAW represents workers at Falconbridge, Mansour Mining, Iris Addiction Recovery for Women (formerly known as Northern Regional Recovery Continuum.), Midas Muffler, Finlandia Nursing Home, Finlandia Care Services, University of Sudbury, St. Joseph’s Long Term Care Facility and now the Elizabeth Center Long Term Care Facility.

The Labour Relations Board held a certification vote at your workplace on Wednesday October 12th, 2005 and seventy-one percent of the workers who exercised their right to vote, chose Mine Mill 598/CAW.

Once the certificate from the Labour Board has been received, elections for the workplace representatives such as bargaining committee will begin.  Survey sheets will be given to the membership and we will begin to achieve a fair and equitable collective agreement through the bargaining process.

You will find information about our Local and our bi-laws on this web site at Our National CAW has a web site at www.caw.ca, (click on the CAW logo on the sidebar), and you will be able to access information about other locals from the East to West in our country.

We have monthly membership meetings scheduled.  They take place on the second Wednesday of every month and are held at our offices at 19 Regent Street South at 7:30 p.m.  Our next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday November 9th at 7:30 p.m.

Again, the thousands of members of Mine Mill 598/CAW situated right here in Sudbury welcome you as part of our union. I look forward to working with all of you and am very confident that at the end of the day, this is one decision that you will not regret.  If anyone has any questions or concerns contact me directly at 673-3661 ext 23 or Anne Marie MacInnis at 698-7655.

In Solidarity
